I have worked with many weight-loss clients. They have followed many different diets through the years; often just picking the most popular. Whenever I worked with these clients, I would often get the same question, “what’s the best diet to follow?”  I always answered honestly even if they didn’t like my response. The answer to that question is it depends on your personal goals and commitment. I told them any diet will work but they had to choose what they wanted their lifestyle to be and what they were willing to do long term. From juicing, to cutting out carbs, to eliminating meat, Military Diet, Cabbage Soup Diet, 2-week diet, 4-hour body, shakes, Keto, Ayurveda, etc. Again, the only thing that will keep you on the path to weight loss is your determination and consistency.

My mom is the perfect example of determination and consistency. She had tried a bunch of fad diets through the years. About two years ago, she went to the doctor and found out she was pre-diabetic and had high cholesterol. Something changed with my mom and that is she wanted a change for herself.  She joined a weight loss program that would work for her. And now, she is almost to her goal weight, no longer pre-diabetic, and off all her medications. Go Mom! 🙂

As a Chef, I’ve cooked for every type of diet out there. A key to sticking with any type of diet is meal preparation.  Meal prep is the cheerleader in your lifestyle choice. Stock your fridge and cabinets with healthy foods. Plan your week out and spend the time prepping or get help like many of my clients did. One client in particular, needed my help to prepare her grocery list for her and her family. I would send her to the store with a list of specific items needed for the weekly meal prep so she was not tempted to get unnecessary items.  This was before the dawn of grocery apps. If the grocery store is your nemesis, downloading an app for someone to deliver your food will help. Remember, in your journey to weight loss, be kind to yourself and find ways that will work for you.
